Masala Pomfret Fry is a simple and flavorful seafood recipe made with fresh pomfret, basic Indian spices and a light coating for a crispy finish.
Ingredients
- Fresh pomfret
- Red chilli powder
- Turmeric powder
- Coriander powder
- Ginger-garlic paste
- Lemon juice
- Salt
- Water, if needed
- Rice flour or semolina
- Oil
- Lemon wedges
- Sliced onions
- Rice or salad, for serving
Method
- Clean the pomfret properly and make a few small cuts on both sides of the fish.
- In a bowl, mix red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt. Add a little water if needed to make a thick marinade.
- Apply the masala evenly over the fish, including inside the cuts, and let it rest for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Lightly coat the marinated fish with rice flour or semolina.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and place the fish carefully in the pan.
- Cook for around 5 to 7 minutes on each side, depending on the size of the fish, until the outside is golden and crisp and the fish is cooked through.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges, sliced onions and your choice of rice or salad.
